Neuropsychology / Behavioral Medicine

Your neuropsychologist is able to identify the functional aspects of different types of brain activity through the administration of standardized testing. This allows the neuropsychologist to make statements regarding competency, diagnosis, and cognitive rehabilitation recommendations. Diagnoses in which neuropsychological/behavioral assessments are appropriate may include traumatic brain injury, stroke, cerebral hemorrhage, multiple sclerosis, meningitis, encephalitis, learning disability, attention deficit disorder, and dementia.

Behavioral medicine utilizes psychological procedures including biofeedback, hypnosis, presurgical psychological assessment, and cognitive behavioral therapy to treat physical diseases and disorders. Diagnoses in which behavioral medicine approaches are appropriate include chronic pain, fibromyalgia, insomnia, tension headaches, and migraine headaches.
